Grocery Shops in Review

We are still going forward with Shelftember BUT there has been a little bit of a set back with the hurricane last week … I ended up tossing a few things as time went on and then when the power came back on, I went through everything once again just to be safe. Can I tell you how glad I am that I iced up grocery bags and tossed them in the freezers that past week. It kept things frozen and reduced my loss quite substantially. I was pretty anal about checking stuff several times a day, moving things around. I know you are not supposed to be opening the freezers but I couldn’t help it. I kept moving everything DOWN as the cold air falls … doh.

On top of it all, we are eating three times the amount of food in that the kids and their better halves are staying with us as well. Have you been following me on Instagram? You’ll see another guest that’s quite demanding as well.

So this past week had ONE grocery shop since I’m not counting our pre-hurricane rush to the store.

Trader Joe’s – September 14, 2017
Total Spent - $77.45

Ok, not the best places to stop for a few taco ingredients. But I’m ok with that.

Bag of tortilla chips $3.49
2 bags of shredded Mexican blend cheese $3.49 each
Gallon of milk $3.69
2 containers sour cream $1.99 each
Margarita Mix $2.49 (this is pretty tasty stuff mixed with LaCroix!)
Red Wine Vineagrette dressing $2.49
Bag of orzo $.99
Bag of shredded sharp cheddar cheese $3.49
2 bags of veggie fried rice $2.29 each
2 bags of Kung Pao Chicken $4.99 each
1 lonely can of refried black beans $.99
2 cans of Cannellini (aka white kidney beans) $.79 each
Cookie butter $3.69 (I’ve never had and thinking of making something with this)
Grape tomatoes $2.69
2 pounds (organic) strawberries $7.99 (good grief didn’t see that price!)
2 pkgs of homemade white tortillas $1.99 (bad place to buy tortillas, just saying)
Bag of jalapeno peppers (8 oz) $1.99
Pepperoni $3.29
Avocado $2.29 (! We are having tacos what else can I say?)
2 roma tomatoes $.29 each
Onion salt (season) $1.99
1 large yellow onion $.79
Head of iceberg lettuce $1.29 (thankful that it wasn’t $4 as someone told me it was on Monday)

Yes, rather expensive but whatever.  Next week and the week after are still in play and hopefully my house will get back to normal soon!

What did YOU buy this week?

Looking forward to sharing with some of these GREAT Parties ... go check them out!
