Frugal Activities

Hey hey, it's time to share the Frugal Activities post and I know a lot of you liked them because of my full disclosure too!

So, what the heck, since I seem to have fallen off the Menu Plan Post, let's revive the Frugal Activities shall we?

I generally try to start my week on Monday with it ending on Sunday but pretty much keep Sunday out of the picture as I try to keep that as a stay home, entertain family and relax day!

Here are some of our Frugal Activities that we did this past week!

1. Hit up the grocery store (Publix) on Monday after work. Uhm, spent a little more than I wanted, $70, but that included quite a few cleaning supplies, salad stuff, milk and a few other things. My goal was to hit up Aldi once later in the week for salad stuff and Walmart for my Dad ... that worked out, NOT so much (see #1 below!)

2.  Ate all 5 breakfast at home and packed my lunch for 4 of the 5 work days. The one day I didn't pack was for a social luncheon that we were hosting for the office so FREE lunch that day (at my FAVORITE place!)

3.  Again, did my own manicure with a nice cold beer at my own bar in my own home. What can I say? This was done Monday, and as I finish this post on Saturday, they still look perfect with no chips, smudges, etc.

4.  Pampered myself to a 55 minute foot reflexology massage on Friday at lunchtime, courtesy of the boss. Honestly, I DO have the world's best boss ...

5.  Hubby and I did another movie night on Friday night. Honestly, as much as we pay for cable/internet/phone service, I'm bound and determined to use it all up. Not to mention, it's kind of nice to not drink a ton of booze (as is standard because it's I Don't Care Fridays) and this way, we either each have a beer or two, or a soda, and movie snacks and snuggle in for a movie in the living room ... I'm glad we started doing this!

6.  We are having friends over for dinner on Saturday (tonight) and both of us had zero inspiration. I finally grabbed my Memories of a Cuban Kitchen and we settled on Piccadillo ... it's an all time favorite for us and guess what? I had 80% of the ingredients on hand to make ... a few things to be picked up and we are D O N E (uhm, watch for recipe soon, along with a repost of the Mojitos I'm making as well! These are going to be modified a little bit and if as good as the original, I'll share!)

7.  Skipped out on the Aldi trip ... much as I wanted to go. I guess I'll stop there on Monday night after taking my dad to the VA. They have boneless skinless chicken thighs for $1.29. Can't pass that up and the sale is good through Tuesday evening so go stock up!

And of course, in keeping with tradition and to make myself accountable, here's the NOT so Frugal Activities from this past week!

1.  Took a quick lunch break and ran to Walmart once I saw that Google Maps said it was only 2.3 miles from the office. Only thing is I have to go down Broward Blvd. and then over I-95 which is a pretty crappy traffic area. Regardless, went, spent $40 for the items on my list. Did not deviate too much from the list and was mindful of what would have to go in the office with me since I didn't have a cooler in the trunk. Why not so frugal? Because, I only intended to spend $20 or so and well, look what happens!

2.  Hit up Publix on Friday night after work ... and, just take a wild guess? $70.00 and 30 minutes later. W T F? This was totally not acceptable :-( I was there to pick up a few hot snacks (oven stuff) for our Movie Night. Well, they had a lot of stuff buy one get one free ... but still ended up spending way too much.

So there you have it. I'm skipping out on Sunday as, fingers crossed, I'll be floating in the pool and chillin on the couch!

What have YOU done frugal this past week?

Looking forward to sharing with some of these GREAT Parties ... go check them out!
